Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Platform Turkey (CISU) is a national network bringing together a range of stakeholders working on SRHR and/or gender equality, including CSOs, civil initiatives, university research centres, activists and academics. The CISU Platform’s main objective is to promote equal access to SRHR related information, SRH rights and services for all individuals in Turkey without facing discrimination based on race, ethnicity, faith, health status, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability.
Towards this objective, the CISU Platform,
The CISU Platform works with a right-based approach against any form of hate speech, discrimination and violence, and towards gender equality. The Platform organizes and works in a horizontal, anti-hierarchical, inclusive, accessible and participatory manner.
While developing its advocacy strategies, the CISU Platform prioritizes the perspectives of the communities that are subjected to right violations and discrimination, including the persons with disabilities, youth, migrants, women and LGBTI+ persons, as well as the experiences and observations of healthcare professionals, academics and CSOs in the SRHR field.
The CISU Platform accepts SRHR as fundamental human rights. It adopts the frameworks and principles of the international conventions and declarations that shaped the SRHR field, including but not limited to IPPF Sexual Rights Declaration (2008), WAS Declaration of Sexual Rights (2014), Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) (1979), Beijing Declaration (1995), Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (Istanbul Convention) (2011), Yogyacarta Principles (2017), Convention on Human Rights and Biomedicine (1997), Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (2007), International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) Programme of Action (1994), Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 2030.
